Founded by Ajay Jha — a pharmaceutical industry veteran with over three decades of experience — the GD Impex group began its export journey in 2004 through predecessor firms, establishing distribution in 20+ countries within eight years. Since 2012 the group has expanded into government infrastructure tenders in Guyana and the Caribbean through deep relationships with Indian and international procurement bodies.

Ajay Jha graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the Birla Institute of Technology (BIT Mesra), Ranchi, in 1989 — one of India's most prestigious technical institutions. What followed was a career defined by relentless ambition, sharp commercial instincts, and an exceptional ability to build high-value relationships across industries and continents.

Ranbaxy to the Boardroom

He began his professional journey as a Manufacturing Chemist at Ranbaxy Laboratories — then India's largest and most respected pharmaceutical company — gaining deep expertise in pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality control, and regulatory standards. His capabilities were recognised rapidly. Within just a few years he rose to become Director at a pharmaceutical company — a trajectory that very few in the industry achieve so swiftly.

Building an Extraordinary Network — 1989 to 2004

From 1989 through 2004, Ajay built an extraordinary commercial network spanning sectors and borders. He facilitated high-value trade deals on behalf of Nepal's Royal family, and established lasting relationships with some of India's most prominent corporate houses — Diamond Cement, Raymond (textiles & clothing), the Jaypee Group (infrastructure & cement), and several other large conglomerates.

Pharma Export — 2004 to 2020

In 2004, Ajay launched his own pharmaceutical export business through a proprietary firm. He expanded distribution to 20+ countries within eight years, with the Caribbean and Latin America as the cornerstone. As the business grew it evolved through partnership firms before being formally incorporated as Guddu Dumra (GD) Impex Pvt Ltd in 2020.
